Window tinting,

The questions people actually ask us before booking mobile window tinting in Pretoria and Johannesburg — the legal limits, how long a fitting takes, what it costs, and what the 100 micron LLumar film we fit really does.

You don't need to find a shop — we come to you. PureTint is a mobile window tinting service covering Pretoria and Johannesburg, so your window tint is fitted at your home, office or parking bay. Send us your suburb on WhatsApp and we'll confirm a time and a price.

How long does window tinting take?

Usually 45 minutes to an hour for a full vehicle. Because we're mobile, that time is spent in your own parking bay — you carry on working, shopping or resting while the film goes on.

Is smash and grab film the same as tint?

No. Smash and grab film is a heavier safety film fitted for security rather than shade, and it's the option most people in Johannesburg and Pretoria ask us for when protection is the priority. Tell us that's your goal and we'll fit the right film for it.

The law

Is window tinting legal in South Africa?

Yes, within limits set by the National Road Traffic Regulations. The driver's and front passenger's windows must let at least 35% of visible light through — that is the darkest legal tint for those windows — and the windscreen must let at least 70% through. Any film also has to be free of bubbles, tears and scratches. We fit to the legal limits so your vehicle stays roadworthy.

What does 35% tint actually mean?

It's the amount of visible light that passes through the glass once the film is on: 35% means 35% of light comes through and the rest is held back. The percentage is measured on the glass and the film together, so a window that already has factory tint needs a lighter film to stay legal.

Can you see through tinted windows at night?

Any film reduces the light reaching your eyes, and very dark or illegal tint makes night driving genuinely harder. Staying at the legal 35% on the front windows keeps a usable view after dark — going darker than the law allows is where the problems start.

My tint is bubbling or peeling — what should I do?

Bubbling, peeling or scratched film is a roadworthy problem, not just an ugly one: the regulations require tint to be free of bubbles, tears and scratches. Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we'll tell you what your vehicle needs.

The film

What film do you use?

We fit 100 micron LLumar film. It's a quality film with great UV and heat rejection, chosen because it stays clear and holds its colour instead of fading and discolouring the way cheap film does.

Do tinted car windows block UV rays?

Yes — that's one of the main reasons people ask for window tint. The 100 micron LLumar film we fit has great UV rejection, which helps protect your skin and slows the fading of seats, dashboard and trim.

Does window tint really keep a car cooler?

It does when the film actually rejects heat rather than just darkening the glass. Our 100 micron LLumar film has great heat rejection, so the cabin stays noticeably cooler in Highveld sun and the aircon settles faster.

How long does window tint last?

That comes down to film quality and how the windows are looked after. The 100 micron LLumar film we fit is chosen because it holds up properly — bubbling, peeling edges or a change of colour are the signs a film has reached the end of its life.

Booking

How do I book mobile window tinting?

Message us on WhatsApp with your vehicle, your suburb in Pretoria or Johannesburg, and the tint you want. We'll confirm the price and a time, then arrive with everything needed to fit your window tint on the spot.

Do you tint at work or at home?

Both. Most people book us while the car is parked at the office or at home during the day — anywhere with shade and a safe place to work is enough for a mobile fitting.
